Dreamy image of a woman receiving a kiss from her lover, surrounded by flowers, foliage and two birds.
The story behind this image:
the central part of this image (the two lovers) was handprinted (in 1992) on Himalayan paper. I created it that autumn when I had fallen in love with the man who is now my husband these twenty-six years later.
In June 2017, I applied the print to a linen canvas and added flowers and birds, made by printing these separately from a a tiny linocut (the birds) and from an Indian fabric printing block (the flowers). See one of the photos. Then I added colour - my favourite combination of Phlato Blue and Burnt Sienna, with some Titanium White to brighten it here and there.
I have written on the back of the linen how the process evolved and have deliberately left the original title and signature of the print visible on the front.
The painting is covered with a layer of matte varnish to protect it.
The painting is ready to hang and the edges of the canvas are painted black and blue, so there is no need for a frame should you wish to hang it as it is.
