We are used to thinking of trees and bushes in the forest as immobile elements, planted in the ground, moved at most by the wind. But when you develop an empathetic relationship with nature, everything changes. The warm ground beneath your feet makes you think that you, too, might have had roots. And the trees come towards you as you walk, moving with you.
When you turn your head 360 degrees, you see the whole forest turning around you. The trees seem to be dancing happily. And you are dancing with them.
I wanted to use bright colours and strong brushstrokes to capture this magical feeling that I often experience when I am in contact with nature.
This painting was done in the studio in August 2023. It is a reworking of several en plein air studies.
