A strange catch was made down at the sea today, but who caught who, and what market will they be sold at?
I've loved old diving suits since I was a youngster, I blame it on the 10CC poster my father had up on the wall of our junk room for years, which captivated me. I especially love the big brass helmets, it's my goal to one day own one, but as to where I'd put it, that's another question!
Anyway, this image came about as an idea based on some of my old photos. It combined one I collected of the diver, and another of a group of children doing a Maypole dance. After some tinkering, I came up with this idea and began working on it.
Several people mentioned the game Bioshock, and the big daddy / little sisters and the similarity between them and this drawing. It was not intended to be based on that, but I think the similarities are there, as both myself and the game's creators would have been using the same sort of source inspirations.
This drawing was made on heavyweight cartridge paper, and created live on streams at TikTok and Twitch. The image was developed from vintage and antique photographs owned by the artist. The drawing is mounted and framed and ready to hang.
