A wire sculpture of the beautiful pangolin from Africa, the most trafficked mammal in the world. Each scale was made by hand, one at a time, slowly forming the body, legs and tail. Highlighting the plight of this beautiful mammal as the illegal wildlife trade is still a threat to pangolins.
I create my sculptural drawings by twisting, weaving, cutting, bending, curling and straightening wire with a small pair of pliers and a small pair of hands! They create negative shapes between the wire which hold as much importance as the wire itself, encouraging the viewer to recognise this space as part of the sculpture.
