The courtyard of memory. This is the sketch made on high quality oil paint board Hahnemühle, as a study of an oil painting on canvas. the image represents a typical courtyard of Segovia, Spain, El Patio de los Rueda, this is the only courtyard that has been preserved original since the 15th century. During my visit to Segovia in August, I painted plein air. This is a painting made directly on the site. Walking through each corridor of the courtyard, watching carefully, was to access a visual memory that evidenced 5 centuries, being in this place and painting it has been like traveling in time.
