I love this painting. The title, "The Contender", speaks to a challenge for the championship. The Contender's body posture tells the story of concentration. What is before him is of great importance. I chose to paint the children's game of hopscotch as the subject of his concentration. The children's game coupled with the seriousness of the contender shows how trivial our daily sressors can be.
Oil on gallery wrapped stretched canvas - standard size. The edges are painted and may be hung straight out of the box. If a frame is desired, this work will fit a standard open back frame. Quality inexpensive frames can be found at Dick Blick.
