A painting of a friend who is a printmaker (see lino tools on the edges of image). The shot was taken from his work desk looking up at him to the ceiling.
This is one of my original 'Pinhole Portraits' painted from my Pinhole Photography that I've been developing over the years. I have used a range of techniques to acquire the images, and paint from the photographs that show the best contrast and composition.
This process of obtaining source material to paint from always offers up really interesting imagery and with the advent of digital photography the options have increased dramatically. I look for images that convey a feeling and not just ones that represent a person or particular scene.
Painted in oil on canvas and stretched over MDF board, this painting is presented in a black painted pine frame.
