Original artwork description:

My cork series is a statement of my Portuguese origins. It's a coming back to nature, to raw, to minimalism, to simplicity,...

This freestanding double sided unique sculpture is done with resin, metallic yellow-orange acrylic paint and cork. In one side there's a natural cork circle, made of ~rough cork chunks binded with the same resin used to bind cork in the cork stoppers for wine industry. In the other side, there's an "airy" circle made of the same transparent resin tinted with a tiny amount of iridescent/metallic yellow-orange acrylic paint, resulting in a beautiful amber transparent color, with traces of metallic orange that shine depending on the light.

This freestanding sculpture measures approximately 30 W x 32 H x 3 D, with the base (black steel stand) and weights approximately 1.6 kg.

It is signed on the bottom and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.

My cork art pieces are eco-friendly and aim to support the cause of global sustainability:

 Cork is the bark of a tree (quercus suber, commonly called the cork oak)

 Cork is a 100% natural raw material, that is 100% reusable and 100% recyclable, extracted from cork oaks without harming the normal development of the species and without damaging the tree. The extracted cork is 100% harnessed.

 The production of cork does not destroy trees. After harvesting, the cork oak undergoes a process of self-regeneration not seen in any other species.

 Black cork is not coulored with any pigments.

Materials used:

resin, metallic yellow-orange acrylic paint and cork
