"The cathedral n° 8", acrylic on canvas, 150X100 cm.
Due to the size, the painting is sold UNSTRETCHED, rolled in a transport tube.
This piece is part of a new series inspired by the French writer and artist Victor Hugo and his famous book "Notre dame de Paris".
This cathedral recently suffered a serious fire, but it remains a major element of French historic Gothic architecture. The style of Victor Hugo's book, "Notre Dame de Paris", is the true, dramatic and disturbing romanticism of the 19th century, which is the antithesis of classicism, but nowadays is wrongly perceived as a notion of angelic sweetness. Evoking the dramatic Romanticism of the cathedral as Victor Hugo saw it, makes it possible to interpret this architectural vision in a contemporary and personal way. This painting is also a humble tribute to the surrealist and tormented artistic universe of the Polish painter Beksinski.
This painting is done in a gestural, modern and spontaneous style, using acrylic. Painting is a pretext to play with the pictorial language: colours, shapes, graphics.
The painting will be delivered signed on the front and on the back, UNSTRETCHED, with an invoice and a signed certificate of authenticity.
Shipment carefully packed in a transport tube and tracked with tracking number.
Depending on the screens, the colours may vary slightly.
