## The burnt wood of Sant Hilari Sacalm: A tribute to the past with a modern touch

**An artisanal legacy:** The burnt wood of Sant Hilari Sacalm was a woodworking technique that for more than 30 years turned this region into a benchmark in the country's wood industry. The technique consisted of creating wooden figures and utensils by burning them and then polishing them.

**An art in decline:** Like many other artisanal practices, burnt wood has been relegated to the past. In tribute to the workers from all over Spain who arrived in the capital of Las Guilleries, a small series of figures made with wire and burnt wooden heads has been created.

**A touch of postmodernity:** The particularity of this series lies in the use of recycled wood from old furniture that was destined for the
municipal garbage. This reinterpretation of burnt wood with postmodern elements pays homage to the craft tradition while reflecting on its decline and the importance of historical memory.

**Beyond nostalgia:** This work is not only a tribute to the artisans of the past, but also a call to reflection on the value of traditions and the need to preserve them. The reuse of recycled wood adds a touch of sustainability to the work, connecting with the concerns of the present.

**In summary, the burnt wood of Sant Hilari Sacalm becomes a symbol of historical memory, traditional craftsmanship and artistic reinterpretation in the modern era.

To send the piece, first the piece is wrapped with a thin layer of acid-free paper, then it is covered with bubble wrap so that the piece is highly protected. At the end of these two packaging processes, I build a box exclusively for the work, with a very thick cardboard capable of withstanding possible incidents in transport and that the work reaches your hands in perfect condition
