Original artwork description:

The Blue Box is an abstract composition that plays with form and color to create a compelling visual experience. Jagged orange forms evoke a sense of motion and life, reminiscent of abstract figures, foliage or trees. These contrasts with a backdrop that transitions from deep blue to soft grey and lavender, enhances the composition's depth and complexity.

A solid blue square rests in the lower left corner, serving as a stark geometric counterpoint to the more organic shapes above. It’s the contrast between the hard edges of the blue square and the orange forms and the soft edges of the abstracted landscape of field, hill and sky, that creates a tension that feels (hopefully, and perhaps a bit mysteriously) resolved.

I drew my inspiration from the natural world, specifically the late afternoon light of winter or early spring as it cuts across a hillside of snow-covered trees. I was interested in the interplay of contrasting elements, the balance of organic and inorganic forms, cold sky, cold snow, warm light, etc., plus the tension of the opposing colors of blue and orange. I hope the results invites viewers to explore these visual contrasts and yet feel the tranquility within its structure..

Signed on the back, my insignia in the lower right corner, sealed in Gamvar satin varnish for uniformity and protection, ready to hang, this work ships with a Certificate of Authenticity.
