Original artwork description:

Oil, acrylic, 24ct Manetti Superior Gold Leaf on birchwood - framed in a white-grained wood.
25x25"

(Limited Editions are on a Decor Art Velvet 300gsm Paper with a metallic underlay to resemble the gold effect with a white circle border, as shown in the images.)

The artwork was shown at the Women's University Club in Mayfair, for the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the King of Ashanti Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. A private function held by the King's nephew, Yaw Mark Nkansah-Amoyaw with speeches about the King's collectibles which are held at Windsor, the V&A and The Wallace Collection.

The artwork was shown at my solo show IN FLIGHT, at The Hyde Gallery, Chiswick London and

The Other Art Fair in London, March 2024 - presented by Saatchi Art.

The Bird of Bahia is a painting that captures the essence of the Brazilian coast. Part of the Brazil collection, each bird is painted and given character, carefully considering colour & pairing with the botanical work.

The painting shows contrasting painting techniques of fine art & contemporary foliage. A single hummingbird that injects a burst of color, set against a backdrop of acrylic wash on birchwood. Showing the delicate grains in the birchwood in contrast with the vibrant oils of which the hummingbird is painted.

A piece for art collectors who appreciate vibrant, nature-inspired works. The birchwood panel is set on a 24ct gold-leafed wood panel. Creating not only a painting but a sculptured piece of art.

Materials used:

Birchwood, acrylic, oil and 24ct gold leaf
