Original artwork description:

I painted this on location at a coal mine, near Blaenavon in South Wales.
The mine is now a very fine museum, where the public are taken down into the heart of the mine. An excellent experience.
The painting shows the pit head, with winding tower, and other assorted buildings and railway locomotives, which were used to carry away the coal.
