The Big Guy is a contemporary painting using abstract expressionist techniques juxtaposed against fine art detail. The painting is full of dynamic energy and texture to suggest the emotional and physical strength of the Gorilla. The Big Guy has been created using free movement of fluid paint to define the shape of the great ape then enhanced with strong palette knifed areas of colour. Thickly applied strokes of oil paint add texture to the painting whilst small gold flecks add depth and interest to the painting.
