Original artwork description:

I am a qualified physicist - BSc Hons (1st class) Portsmouth Poly - as well as a perfunctory Google-meister so it would be wise for people to accept that this painting depicts an accurate representation of what happened roughly 13.8 billion years ago when a tiny hot dot of infinite density called a Singularity burst out of its jeans and started expanding (and still is to this very day) in the shape of a rather nice cocktail glass, and in doing so - when things started to cool down after the explosion betweeen the time of 1 over 10 to the 43rd power and the time of 1 over 10 to the 36th power - formed life, the universe and everything. Of course being scientifically/Googly qualified I could naturally tell you about the Inflation Epoch (starting around 1 over 10 to the 32nd power) when baryogenesis occurred (matter trumped anti-matter) or the Cooling Epoch (1 over 10 to the 11th power) when quarks and gluons combined to form baryons such as protons and neutrons, and a small excess of quarks over antiquarks led to a small excess of baryons over antibaryons. I could expound confidently about the Structure Epoch which signifies the start of the modern universe including woolly mammoths and the interweb. If pushed I could probably even scare you about The Big Crunch when the universe may stop expanding and collapse in on itself, ruining lots of people's plans for the coming Bank Holiday. But instead of showing off all my hurriedly acquired superficial knowledge I decided that, as a professional artist, I should adhere to the maxim that 'A picture is worth a thousand words.' Or, er, at least, er, 270 words. Hope this is OK!
