Artwork description:

"The Beautiful Trees" Number 25, is part of a series of prints that I have created from a set of small photopolymer print plates that I have worked on since 2019. All of the earlier prints were printed as unique monoprints. This one, No. 25, is in a variable edition of 30 prints.
The nine prints are inked and printed in a grid, onto Fabriano paper, and dried comletely. Then, each of the images is covered with acrylic matt medium in order to make those parts of the paper waterproof.
Then, the paper is dipped into a tray of suminagashi inks and dried. This procedure is repeated again, in order to make the image more interesting and complex.
Afterwards, the paper is trimmed, and adhered to another sheet of Fabriano paper, to complete the print.
The edition is variable, as the suminagashi element of the process is random, and unique. The smaller images are printed the same in each print.

Materials used:

Etching press, Plates, Paper, Inks
