My Statement:

When creating this painting, I aimed to capture the intensity and raw energy of a rodeo moment, where the rider and the bull are locked in a battle of strength and skill. I used a dynamic composition, positioning the cowboy and the charging bull diagonally to enhance the sense of movement and tension. The background is rendered with loose, blurred brushstrokes to create the illusion of dust and chaos, immersing the viewer in the heat of the moment.

For the color palette, I chose warm earth tones to contrast with the cowboy’s blue jeans and red shirt, making the figure stand out against the rugged backdrop. The interplay of light and shadow emphasizes the textures of the cowboy’s attire and the bull’s powerful muscles, adding depth and realism to the scene.

Through this piece, I wanted to go beyond merely depicting a rodeo event—I sought to convey the sheer force, grit, and untamed spirit of the ride, allowing the viewer to feel the rush, the struggle, and the exhilaration of this fleeting, adrenaline-fueled moment.
