This painting illustrates one of the biggest tragedies of 2019, the Amazon fires. When learning about these horrible events, I immediately thought of the animals who don't understand what's going on and have lost their homes and families due to the fires. I wanted to illustrate the distress of these frightened animals as they watch their homes burn and see injured people/ animals suffer around them. The painting shows the fear and sadness in their eyes as they are unsure if they will survive.
