Original artwork description:

The Alhambra, Granada
The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain. It is one of the most famous monuments of Islamic architecture and one of the best-preserved palaces of the historic Islamic world, in addition to containing notable examples of Spanish Renaissance architecture.

´The Alhambra is Granada’s – and Europe’s – love letter to Moorish culture. Set against the brooding Sierra Nevada peaks, this fortified palace started life as a walled citadel before becoming the opulent seat of Granada’s Nasrid emirs. Their showpiece palaces, the 14th-century Palacios Nazaríes, are among the finest Islamic buildings in Europe and, together with the Generalife gardens, form the Alhambra's great headline act.´ Lonely Planet.

After her recent excursion to Granada, Kirsty brought back a series of drawings and photographs from the site, which she used as references upon her return to the art studio. Drawing influence from the works of Sorolla and Hockney, she skillfully completed the final oil painting, resulting in a visually captivating representation of the Alhambra. The artwork showcases a multitude of thickly textured brushstrokes and artistic marks, enhancing its overall beauty and making it a valuable piece for any art collection.
