A monoprint of The Alchemist, a subject I have depicted several times over the years. Shrouded in mystery and secrecy. I have always been fascinated by the practice of alchemy. Turning lead into gold sounds like a pretty amazing thing to do!
This print was created by using very vibrant colours of ink thickly layered onto a glass plate, which I manipulated until I achieved the desired effect. I then placed a sheet of paper over the ink and drew the image on the reverse side of the paper. The thick ink forms patterns which can't always be planned so the resulting image can often be surprising.
