That day just before Halloween I was asked to teach my art student at their organic dairy farm 'Redlands' the other side of Creech hill in Somerset where an old tale was told of ten witches that had been burned at the stake on that hill .Its a magical place with light that is cosy and glows even on a foggy - misty day.When it started to clear the light became pale pink and silvery grey -the muted tones appeared as Sue and I painted in the field .A lecher came out of now where and ran across the field in front of us chasing a deer luckily the dog was muzzled.I will never forget that day and I will always have a story to tell of drama and rustic inspiration.
Capturing the place at the end of the field a hedgerow and bare tree.
Painted outside with atmosphere ,pale light,earthy shades ,thick 425g/m2 acid free rough textured watercolour paper,hogs hair and sable haired brush,Holbein watercolour paints.Wet in wet technique and dragging technique.
