Original artwork description:

This painting is one of a series of recent works which reference illustrations from childhood adventure books - a line of imagined text from an unwritten story becomes the starting point for a painting - and becomes the title.

The result is a kind of surreal impressionism, the combination of an "other worldly" subject painted with the classic techniques and vocabularies of landscape painting. The imaginary becomes real, reality becomes a little less sure of itself.

Materials used:

Artists quality oil paints by Old Holland and Winsor & Newton
