Original artwork description:

“Terra Cognita. Sandburn” is crafted from a blend of stoneware, porcelain, pigments, and additives. Thin sheets of material are layered to form undulating, wave-like shapes, while a classic iron-red Tenmoku glaze enhances the surface.

High-fired at 1250°C, it is 100% water-resistant. Handmade with locally sourced materials near Barcelona, the piece includes a 10 millimeter thick wooden stretcher on the back for wall mounting.

Inspired by aerial views of remote landscapes, the Terra Cognita series captures the stark beauty of mining quarries, salt flats, and deserts. These works transform distant, often inaccessible terrains into tangible, tactile forms, reflecting the interplay between humanity and nature.

Materials used:

Ceramic: Stoneware, Glazes
