At a clearing in the woods, a bear tenderly reaches out to two small birds. Like so many animals, historically bears have been horribly treated and completely misunderstood. In this print I wanted to show the bear to be a kind and gentle being.

This 6 colour silkscreen is hand-printed on 300 gram handmade Somerset paper and is in a limited edition of 50 and signed by the artist. The image size is 24 x 16 inches on a paper size of 28 x 20 inches.

A colour silkscreen print is created by building up an image with several layers of individually printed colours. This process is called colour separation. Each colour has its own 'positive' which is made on acetate or tracing paper (see photos for reference) which is then exposed to a UV light with a screen coated in photo-sensitive emulsion.
