Original artwork description:

The compressed passages of thick paint in this dense composition are intended to feel aesthetically lush and pleasant, though constrained, akin to the physical pleasure experienced when bodies are locked in the tight embrace of sexual pairing. The silhouetted buttocks-like shape at the top of the composition encourages this interpretation, as does the turned-over reading of male genitalia plunging downward just below. Together, these visual clues work in tandem with the remaining "hand-in-glove" paint passages to place the viewer in mind of, and in close personal proximity to, the mechanics of sexual intercourse. The title, playing further on this theme, refers to the many ways and positions in which two people can experience intimate pleasure.

Influences, among others, include Max Beckmann, Edvard Munch, Bob Thompson, George McNeil, Richard Diebenkorn, David Park, Francesco Clemente, R.B. Kitaj and Willem de Kooning.
