Original artwork description:

The artwork is a part of Terra Incognita Series by artist Alena Kovalli. It presents 12 abstract landscapes that take the viewer to a different, non-existent space - a place for spiritual search.

In a period of global upheaval, the artist considers escapism (English escape - “to run away, look for a way out”) as a natural need of the human mind. When there is no solution, we often try to "escape" from the hustle and bustle, to retire with nature. And, watching the sky, its majestic beauty, we are looking inside for the answers we need.

And, although all the landscapes of the series are fictional, they were inspired by the cold northern beauty of the Karelian Isthmus. The artist invites the viewer to take a meditative journey with her to the shores of Terra Incognita.
