Original artwork description:

Temple’s shrine, on the far side of the bay, the other side of Bombay Jan 1991,
colour sumi inks, colour pencils on watercolour paper, 14.5 x 10.75 in., 37.5 x 27.5 cm.,
The paint is Japanese paint sticks, and wet stones in which to grind them with water.
This is a real hit from my past when I travelled India and Nepal with my paints and paper and I did plenty of interesting paintings on location. Another work done there on the same occasion is the same scene and colours, from a different perspective.
This painting was done on location by the sea side of Bandra West, Mumbai. I sat by the small Hindu shrine to do this work.
Here the paper has yellowed somewhat over time, evenly, without stains or spots, and the picture is as true to the painting as I could make it…
The close up picture is to get a feel for the brush strokes of the painting. Then there’s me with the work for perspective.
