This is a large original Oil painting on a box canvas
Five roses fallen on a stone window sill, there are droplets of water painted onto the petals, symbolic of the falling tears of Venus, Goddess of love. In Ancient Roman mythology it is said that roses grew where the tears of Venus fell to the ground... these are the tears of her love.
I have included some of the progress pictures of the painting here so that you can see how the layers develop. I plan the painting from the onset and create a complete work in Grisaille- grey monochrome tones, before applying the color in several oil glazes. This is a large piece and is the central focus in any room.
This is a box canvas and the sides are painted white. It is ready to hang
