Original artwork description:

1935 German Grand Prix Winner
Tazio Nuvolari was considered by many as the finest pre-war Grand Prix driver. His incredible skill and fearless attitude earned him a reputation that many future drivers, such as Juan Manuel Fangio, looked up to.
His eagerness to win for his home country resulted in him tirelessly racing for the under resourced Scuderia Ferrari run Alfa Romeo team, against the mighty German teams of Mercedes and Auto Union.

One of his most famous wins came in 1935, at the Nurburgring. In the challenging conditions, Nuvolari out drove the five Mercedes and four Auto Union cars to score a memorable victory in front of the shocked German crowd. Although his car was 20mph slower in a straight line, the Italian’s skill meant that he was able to make up the time during the twisty parts of the circuit. After the initial shock, the home crowd gave him a warm reception when he stood on the podium, acknowledging his amazing accomplishment.
