A semi-abstract interpretation of the view of Tate Modern with Millennium Bridge from the opposite bank of the Thames.
I set out to create a unique and expressive interpretation of the iconic art giant - one that in some way captured the creative DNA of the place. The river, rendered in newsprint, is a subtle nod towards the endless flow of art world headlines - the endless flow of new names and ideas. The bridge piers rise up like great whale tails - a reference towards both surrealism in art, and the whales that occasionally venture off course up the river.
Mount board, card, paper, pastel and acrylic.
