In this piece, I aimed to capture the light bursting through the clouds, looking upwards through the trees.
The bright cerulean sky, against the deep earthy tones beneath, is a striking palette.
The painting is textured and catches the light, making the colours burst and glow.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
The textured tones are developed by layering and lifting the paint, to find previous hues and tones laid beneath, building depth, movement and highlights.
