Tarakaniv Fort is a defensive structure, an architectural monument of the 19th century. It is located near the village of Tarakaniv, Duben district, Rivne region in Ukraine, in a picturesque area above the Ikva river. An architectural monument of fortification art of the 19th century of Ukraine. The construction of the Tarakaniv Fort was due to the need to strengthen the borders from Austria-Hungary. The fort fulfilled its purpose only once during the First World War. Today the fort is desolate and abandoned. Trees grow through the walls, masonry crumbles, and silence reigns in the dark, damp casemates. There are also legends about its bad reputation - people wander here, the clocks go crazy, and the sounds of military marching are heard at night.
