Original artwork description:

Red white and blue, the colours of many countries including Great Britain. Britannia is considered to be a warrior woman - usually shown helmeted with a trident and shield. Does she have a day off I wondered?

The model had been posing with strong dynamic holds. Finally we let her rest. So she reclined back and went to sleep. The trident made me think of water. Walls of water created behind, and red rocks in front. Scratched into the paint with the end of a brush to draw the white figure of Britannia.

Watercolour on white yupo paper, 65 x 45 cm (c. 26 x 18"). Rolled for delivery (glassine inside to protect the drawing). [Yupo paper is water-proof and tear-proof, synthetic usually used in printing.]

Mounting/Mat Suggestion: An image is included of how the piece could look if float-mounted or put behind mountboard(s) [in the US known as mats] before framing.

Materials used:

watercolour
