Original artwork description:

This work is a mixed media hybrid of painting and collage, formed from offcuts of wood inlaid with canvas. I wanted to try and translate some of the ideas used in my painting into three dimensions, and to experiment with material and stylistic juxtaposition. The most important thing for me is that my work should be a source of imaginative potential.

The process of making the piece involves a careful consideration of the way that the forms and colours in the work relate to one another to create an overall sense of harmony or equilibrium. I am interested in the creation of atmosphere and feeling through purely abstract means.
