At twilight, the movement of the lights and people on the vintage fairground rides is mesmerising. The playful screams as the chairs swing round and the people are flung up and outwards. I enjoyed taking a series of photographic images which merged into this impressionistic painting in a palette of red, white and blue with cream light highlights.

Funfairs are full of light colour and movement. In Hereford the annual May Fair sees several streets close and the rides take over. Reflected in the windows of local shops, businesses and houses.

The canvas has over-painted edges (red to match the under-painting). It is framed in a wide concave white wood frame. Makes me feel like I'm looking out of the window at dusk as the crowds start to grow and the lights come on.
