Original artwork description:

This picture is one of a series of pieces made during a recent trip with my wife to Sun Moon Lake in Nantou County, Taiwan. We stayed at our favourite Lea Lea Hotel and had an amazing lake view balcony to enjoy the beautiful lake and work “en plein air” from.
During the trip I used a variety of materials including Oil Pastels on black paper, Acrylic Paint and a mixture of Acrylic and Ink to try and capture the different views and feelings of the lake. This lake is a very beautiful emerald/jade green colour and is surrounded by mountains with many great trails to enjoy. This stunning scenery always looks amazing and the views actually change all throughout the day and night.
I love the way the water and reflections were changing all the time with different activities on the water and weather. I drew and painted at all different times of the day to try to experience and capture the different atmospheres and feeling.
This Oil Pastel on black paper piece is one of series of early evening to night-time pieces that I did to try to capture the beautiful dancing lights reflected across the lake. I was looking forward to coming here mostly to draw these night-time scenes as I had done a few years earlier when I drew a Pagoda’s lights reflected on the lake at night. In this picture I could see lights from the main town of Sway-Sur reflected across the lake towards me into the darkness. It was a fun challenge to try to capture these ever changing moving lights.
I like to use Oil Pastels because they allow me to apply immediate colours and I can work quickly and freely.
A note to International Buyers:
Shipping rates have increased in price all around the world due to Covid and other complications. Due to this I have had to increase the the cost of shipping my artworks in line with the Delivery Companies. I will always strive to find the cheapest possible option for the customer (usually my local POST OFFICE EMS Recorded Delivery, but unfortunately they don’t deliver worldwide at the moment) If the amount of shipping charged at purchase is less than the shipping company charges then I will refund the difference to the customer. This refund will be done after the picture has arrived safely and has been accepted.
Any import duties, taxes and charges that may be payable are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please message me to check if this might affect your purchase.
