This reduction woodcut is of a Swan sat on a small island at a place I call Swan Lake near Cotford, Somerset, hidden away in a beautiful spot on some farmland. I came across this amazing place by accident whilst rambling across the fields, suddenly coming across this site. I sat here for many hours in the hot Sun, enjoying the afternoon whilst drawing lots of sketches, observing the Swans, Ducks and Swifts as they went about their business.
I made these and other woodcuts exploring the forms and experimenting with colours to see what might happen through the process of this reduction woodcut. This special place is a spot I will keep returning throughout the year to document the changing seasons.
