A mysterious landscape is revealed by the moonlight spilling over the Sussex Hills. The shifting clouds and mist that pass over the South Downs hide and reveal the hills and trees below.
A black and white etching, printed by hand on Somerset paper.
This etching is the first in a limited edition of just fifteen prints from this etching plate.
To create this etching I have used a zinc plate, aquatint (melting resin dust onto the plate with a flame, to allow the ink to 'grip'), acid and burnishing. Then professional etching ink is smeared onto the plate and selectively removed. The image is created by placing the inked plate onto the bed of an etching press, with a sheet of damp 'Somerset' heavy weight, white paper, laid on top. The press is then 'hand wound', pressing the plate and paper together, transferring the image from plate to paper.
