Surfer #7 was shot with a Holga film camera from under the Pismo Beach Pier in Southern California. Returning to my darkroom and studio in Illinois, the film was developed, scanned and enhanced to render a somewhat painterly, vintage appearance. To further enhance the image, the final picture is digitally hand printed by the artist on beautiful, slightly textured fine art paper; 10x10 inches on 12x12 inch paper. Signed and number on front, number 1 of a limited series 20.
Purchasers outside USA please note:
Purchase price does not include duties and taxes that may be imposed by your country of residence.
Regarding size:
My work is hand printed at the size I feel best presents the subject matter. However, I am able to print many of the images at custom size if requested. If interested in a custom size, please contact the studio directly with your request. If available, we will promptly post the custom size to Artfinder for purchase.
About the artist:
Robert Tolchin is an artist who is as comfortable under the red glow of his darkroom safelight as he is in front of his computer monitor. A second generation photographer, classically trained in the photo program of Columbia College Chicago, Tolchin's work ranges from traditional, beautiful black and white figurative nudes to conceptual, digital images conceived in his imagination. His work is exhibited widely and is in personal and corporate collections in North America and Europe. Working from his studio north of Chicago he is available for fine art and portrait commissions.
