A close-up view of the wave-like sandstone rock formations in the Lower Antelope Canyon on Navajo Nation lands near Page in northern Arizona taken as part of a rock formation series of images from the Colorado Plateau in the autumn of 2009. This semi-abstract view shows the beautifully sculpted and textured rocks eroded by sediment caught up in the rain water as it surges through the slot canyon in flash floods. With the sunlight filtering down from above and reflecting off the sandstone, it had the look of waves frozen in time glowing amber in the setting sun.
