Original artwork description:

The evening time is particularly loved by artists because of the split chance to catch an elusive beauty around them. I belonged to a group of artists staying in a city at the foot of Saint Peter's Mountain in 2016. All days were boiling hot, blindingly bright, and challenging to find the right moment to make a plain air study. In the second part of the afternoons, because the sun began hiding behind Saint Peter's mountain the daylight disappeared so quickly and unexpectedly. So, we all had to catch these afternoon moments to work non-stop for a couple of hours. I picked up a location near a fire station, where the road makes a zig-zag twist with an open view to the Saint Peter's mountain peaks. I saw how my landlady in a red dress was returning after shopping so I added the red spot of her figure on my canvas and it became a contrast and a compositional holder. Сicadas were singing and majestic peaks were shining above in the sunlight.

The surface was delicately covered with a thin layer of damar artistic varnish to deepen the shadows and image protection. The linen canvas is mold-resistant, provided that exhibiting conditions have an appropriate level of humidity and temperature comparable to home conditions.

The canvas is being sold without framing, leaving this decision to the client, respecting the individual characteristics of each interior, and will be dispatched rolled in an enforced cardboard tube. All necessary papers including the Certificate of Authenticity are added to the parcel.

Materials used:

Linen canvas, oil paint
