Sunset over the Quantocks to Exmoor hills, Somerset
The sun appeared like a huge pale orange,
Peach and yellow glow with expressive clouds,
Autumn colours in the woodland,
Moorland coated in patches of yellow gorse, heather,
So fertile for nature and so special.

Words and thoughts of being here recently in Autumn.
Original impressionist watercolour created from my observation and feelings of the place. An area I will go back to and a lot of beautiful hills to walk, you can see for miles.
I used a wet on wet technique in sporadic washes of warm colours and then applied the silvery blue clouds over the top using a flat varnish brush.I used my Filbert brush to paint the woodland.. I etched out the paint with my nail for the grasses and a Chinese brush was used for the detail of the moorland in the foreground.
Created on extra rough textured watercolour paper, bockingford 425 gsm 200 lb.
