"Sunset Impressions" painting was inspired by the subtle shifts in color and temperature of light at sunset, and its effects on local landscape color.
This is an original one of a kind 10"x8" painting done with professional-grade oil pastels on specialty Sennelier oil pastel paper. The mat beveled-cut opening size is 9 1/4 x 7 ½ in.
Oil pastels are made of pigment and a non-drying binder of mineral oil and wax, which can behave similar to oil paints. Heavy build-ups can create an almost impasto effect.
Because oil pastels never dry out completely, they need to be protected somehow, often by applying a special fixative to the painting or placing the painting in a sleeve and then inside a frame.

This painting is treated with Sennelier oil pastel fixative that protects it from dust and smudging. The painting is mounted under 11"x14" mat, backed, and ready to frame. It easily slots into a 11" x 14" standard frame. For shipping, it is placed in a protective clear plastic sleeve. Oil pastel paintings should be framed under glass.
