Original artwork description:

A large size landscape oil painting depicting a seascape scene from a standing perspective looking directly towards the ocean with the waves breaking horizontally across the painting. The foreshore is scattered with rocks of various sizes with the sea splashing against some and creating reflective pools around them and on the wet sand in the foreground. The mid ground has a large crashing wave with the ocean mostly in shadow behind, to the horizon where there’s a large headland close on the right hand side and a smaller one to the left. Dominating the painting overhead is a dramatic powerful sunset with an array of colours. This composition form has depth and volume with a natural sense of depth and space.

Created with a wide range of harmonious rich, saturated, strong and vibrant colours. The lighting is from the natural sun, warm yellow with orange, purple and lilac colours. The full range of tones and values are used, dark, light and middle. The splashing waves are slightly textured with thicker paint but the majority of the painting is smooth and flat. There are mark makings in the sky achieved by using a scumbling technique and brush marks on the sand and rocks. The mood and atmosphere is calm, content, peaceful, relaxed and tranquil.

There is a 3 cm white border around each edge that allows framing without losing any of the painting.
