Many of the animals I enjoy creating are often exotic and wild, and as much as I love leopards and tigers there is something just as beautiful as the wild life we have here in Britain.
I have chosen for my first, of what I will hopefully expand in my British wildlife series, the red squirrel. These were once the only squirrel inhabiting the Uk, but for shortsighted reasons of the upper classes of Britain, in the late 1800s the grey squirrel was brought over from North America as they were considered unusual and a more interesting addition to have scampering around our countryside, that was until they began taking over the spaces and food supplies from the smaller native and less aggressive red squirrel, which are now sadly endangered, with few remaining and scattered mostly in the north of the Uk. And as rare a sighting as me spotting a tiger or leopard roaming the streets of London.
I have only made four in this edition. They are a 5 colour reduction linocut print on beautiful Somerset satin 250gsm cotton paper.
Please be aware that there are faint marks on the margins which can easily be hidden when framed. These are handmade prints and not digitally enhanced copies.
