Original artwork description:

Expressionist oil pastel and graphite painting of a bright patch of woodland - directly done outdoors as the expressionists of old. It has a cheerful positive atmosphere - the sun appears to be shining - trees growing freely and there is a broken off branch. It can be seen from the signature - this is painting #I done in the same place just prior painting #II (published as 'Sunlight Woods II of II'). The difference between I and II reveals something about the expressionist experience - the move into greater clarity and strength.

Mostly I sketch, draw and paint directly from nature, in front of a model or object - keeping this practice feeds into my work as a sculptor, printmaker and conceptual artist. Oil pastel is a great medium for the expressionist - graphite adding 3-D effect, it's the sculptor coming through. Such an 'oil pastel and graphite object' breathes so much authenticity, having it on the palm of your hand you will feel its preciousness.

The very handy collection format is A6 - 14.9 x 10.5 cm - perforation inclusive. All reasonable efforts are made to provide a good representation of colour, however due to computer monitor limitations, some variation may occur.
