I recently did a commission for a client which involved a big church hat and I enjoyed it so much I decided to continue with the theme. My daughter models for a lot of my paintings so we spent a morning on a photo shoot out on our pool deck in the brilliant autumn sunshine. I love the freshness of this painting with the sundappled water and the carefree pose of the girl with her face to the sun - in these Covid 19 days it speaks to optimism and a sense of gratitude for the simple things in life.
