Irina became a laureate of the Recycling Art competition and presented her project at the large citywide festival ARTification.
Artist:
To create the three-dimensional recycle artwork "Sunflowers," I used items that were once part of the lives of other people and children: small toys, beads, buttons, blocks, shells, paperclips, ceramic tiles, mosaics, and other little things. I select objects by color, leaving them as they were found.
I was inspired by Van Gogh's painting "Sunflowers." This painting belongs to Post-Impressionism, and to fully appreciate it, the artwork should be viewed from a distance, while the materials and techniques used should be examined up close.
I enjoy thinking about the people who owned these items and imagining the children who played with these toys. Each object is a separate world. It carries its own story and a real person behind it.
The sculptural artwork "Sunflowers" is made from modern items and toys. It offers a contemporary perspective on classical art and its reinterpretation. Many famous artists have reproduced the works of their predecessors. For example, Picasso created around 50 interpretations of Diego Velázquez's painting "Las Meninas," and the famous "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo da Vinci has been recreated by many artists, including Marcel Duchamp, who added a mustache to it.
