Painted from life, from flowers gathered and arranged by the artist. Painted in oil on canvas with both palette knife and brush. Features a large sunflower bursting from a cluster of colorful fall flowers, including dahlias, zinnias, and gomphrena. A snapdragon nestles in at the left above the sunflower, and a peachy-pink gladiola crosses the top of the canvas. The background is created with textured brushstrokes in cream and raspberry, with mint and purple accents. Further accent is provided by aster blossoms in various shades of purple scattered across the background space. The flower petals and centers are accented by thickly textured paint, applied with palette knife. The painting continues onto the sides of the 1.5" thick canvas, for a "gallery wrap" look that requires no frame and is ready to hang. A show-stopping piece, with boldness and whimsey, and charm.
