Sun falling and mist rising
Egg yolk yellow sunset,
Earthy clouds are gathering,
Beneath Shaftesbury hill, North Dorset,
The peacefulness and harmonious nature,
That surrounds me at the end of the day.

Words and experience of being here in early March.
Original impressionist watercolour on extra rough watercolour paper bockingford 425gsm 200lb.
I wet the paper all over and started with my backwashes, first wash was a Gamboge yellow. I embraced the thick watercolour paper with a Chinese hake. To keep the ethereal background I didn’t let the paper dry until I had finished applying all the wet on wet washes.
I then started to dab and press, plus drag the paint upwards for the blackthorn and scraped the paint out with my nail. I enjoyed seeing this beautiful atmospheric scene where I live and I cherish the special moments.
